About Devola Volunteer Fire Company

A brick fire station with three white garage doors and a red door sits under a blue sky. Shrubs and a firefighter statue are in front, with a flagpole at the center and a parking lot surrounding the building.

The Devola Volunteer Fire Company provides fire and EMS services for residential, commercial, and light industrial structures as well as BLS and ALS medical services. We provide service for two state highways, S.R. 60 and S.R. 821, and one interstate highway, I-77. We also have a low head dam on the Muskingum River.

We have a county wide mutual aid agreement with 17 other fire and EMS departments, which rely heavily on our ALS members.

Our History

On January 9th, 1955, 52 residents of Devola and East Muskingum Township saw the need for a fire service in their area.

They formed the Devola Volunteer Fire Department and acquired a 1930 Seagrave pumper from the city of Marietta.

Through determination and hardwork, those men, as well as, the men and women to follow in their footsteps have built a fire and rescue service we can all be proud of.

We operate with funds collected from a fire/rescue levy and from the donations from the citizens of our community. The members are all volunteers and receive no pay for their services.
